MOODYS

Moodys is a chain that was also very special to me. I've inherited some designs that I liked very much but I also felt it lacked a bit of oomph. So I took what I liked at managed to put my own twist on it. I tried making the interior more industrial, with bolder colour placements as well a strategic placement of scripted neon texts framed inside wallpaper panels. As I always have to work with booth seating I thought this could be the perfect opportunity to make them more playful to fit the theme of the scheme and so I came up with something we ended up calling "the sheds" within the office.

This was the start of a continuous revamp of the scheme that needed to set the tone for the rest of the venues for this chain. This was rather successful and accepted upon the first time the client saw this which of course made us all very happy and excited for the journey that followed and still continues.

The HQ Office Reception

1 2.png

The HQ offices was an open design brief where the client allowed me to come up with the concept on my own. The only things I had to work with was their branding, the blue colour, and their needs for a reception desk, a small breakout corner and a kitchenette.

Their logo inspired me to go into one of my favourite creative directions: graphic texts and shapes as well as colour blocking.

Although we did not end up fitting this project, to this day it holds a special place in my heart and is the "one that got away".

Royal Sweets

Royal Sweets was a small sweets shop the first one of my designs that went to site. We already had a previous shop to work with as a precedent but the client allowed us to elevate it slightly. I tried making it bolder and having a flair of its own.

One of the main points that I had to pay attention to was the amount of space that was there. Everything has to fit perfectly together as otherwise circulation would have been a massive issue.

Thankfully all has gone rather smoothly and our client was extremely happy with the atmosphere and the project in general. He is hoping to open a new one soon so hopefully we'll be able to continue the theme.

Cenote

The Cenote Project

A look at how interior design could act as a 3D canvas to convey a conceptual or abstract feeling that otherwise would require specific locations and activities to experience. The project was a possible solution for understanding how to implement the multi-sensory experience encountered in nature through sculptural installations and complimentary greenery for audiences to explore and immerse in.

The ‘Cenote Project’ was inspired by underwater cave systems and hiking and attempted to make nature’s well-being benefits more widely available to urban audiences in developed countries. As a response to the “rural happiness paradox” the proposal would provide an immersive explorative experience to allow people to disengage from their everyday routines and return to a calmer state of mind, not necessarily found in the capitalist everydays. The idea could be implemented and adapted to any interior space within the country.

Unreal Engine ArchViz

Unreal

During my Masters degree I have taught myself to use Unreal Engine for architectural visualisation, a gaming engine that elevated my visualisation skills to the next level. I have learned cinematics and photorealistic rendering during the process and an easier way to play around with plants. I have found the software to be an even better and faster way to render and now is my go-to visualisation tool which was usually Enscape, especially as it is free unlike many others that are not even on the same level as UE. It also automatically taught me how to use Twinmotion, which is the more user friendly arch viz version of Unreal, with limited features and not as much variety.

Learning how to do a cinematic walkthrough, learning how to animate water bodies and fire were some of the skills I picked up. I also understood path tracing, and video editing with Adobe Premiere throughout the process. I also managed to create CGI rendering which were a lot more photorealistic than my previous accomplishments.

Unboxt. Headquarters

Unboxt

During on of the MA modules a collaborative startup had to be created in a multidisciplinary group, among interior, graphic, product and fashion designers and photographers.

I, too, had to work together with graphic, product, fashion designers and also another interior designer. Together with the other interior designer we have created a headquarter for our startup idea. During the project I learned how to create a walkthrough in Enscape and use video editing to add soundtrack and voice over and other creative elements for presentation purposes. With the other interior designer we have written a script for our fashion designer who would do our voiceover and present our ideas in a professional and friendly manner.

I consider this my favourite experience throughout the course and I am very proud of the results.

ürban.DOSE

urbandose

The idea was to design a hybrid space with the initiative to increase happiness in urban areas. Ürban.dose was an attempt to hack the human brain and boost mental well-being throughout the experience. The tools scientifically proven to increase happiness were certain foods and activities and the idea of a 'scenic visuals ability to make a person happy'.

The concept was trying to bridge the gap between urban and natural elements, using concrete to create fluid and organic shapes inspired by nature and creating innovative options for plant integration into the space as a way to bring the outdoors indoors. The final design reflects the soft and hard landscaping inspired by mountainscapes, topography, dripstone caves and delicate flowers. Ürban.dose offers flexible and multifunctional design solutions for its café/exhibition space, workshop and mindfulness room.
